Individualized Learning
The Montessori Academy of Jackson offers an authentic Montessori education, serving children as young as thirty-six months through the sixth grade level. Our curriculum follows Dr. Maria Montessori’s teachings on the importance of community and on the development of a life-long love of learning in children starting from an early age. Our educational environment is focused on a calm, nurturing atmosphere that is purposefully designed to meet your child's needs at each step in their educational journey.
Goals and Philosophy
We believe every individual is born with not only the natural desire to learn, but also with unlimited potential...potential which only develops and flourishes through the influence of family, education and community. Attitudes and confidence developed during a child's formative years serve the child throughout their entire lifetime.
Through the Montessori experience, the teacher and the students become partners in an environment of discovery and investigative learning. Students are given time to organically process information, building skills that will exponentially increase their capacity for knowledge and problem solving. The environment is a blend of materials, technology, hypothesis and experimentation, which sets the stage for learning at it's most basic and exciting level!
The Montessori approach was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the late 1890′s. Her educational philosophy arose from her observations on how children learn. Dr. Montessori viewed the child as one who is naturally eager to learn and will persist investigation when presented with opportunities to explore. She believed the purpose of education should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies, but to cultivate his or her own natural desire to learn. The Montessori method is one that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child. Dr. Montessori’s method of education has over 100 years of success in diverse cultures throughout the world.
